Solent Composite Systems Ltd (SCS) - SME, UK
SCS was inaugurated in March 2004 following the acquisition of the assets of Offshore Composite Structures. Initially, working in the oil & gas sectors where quality and delivery are paramount, SCS quickly established a reputation for both innovation and reliability. This enabled them to become a leading supplier of moulds and components for the fast growing wind energy sector. .In 2004 SCS introduced a knowledge based engineering portfolio of composite mould and processing technology based on SmartMould™- an integrated system of software and process techniques. SCS entered the Wind Turbine market in March 2000 after several successful years pioneering the design and application of many innovative composite material systems for the Offshore Oil & Gas industry. This high technology and quality driven heritage enabled SCS to enter one of the most demanding sectors of the Wind Turbine industry- the design and manufacture of blade moulds, tools and related critical components. Capabilities at the Cowes IOW facility proved invaluable in the rapid delivery of moulds ranging from 23 metres to 31 metres for one of Europe’s leading wind turbine manufacturers. A new facility has been commissioned to manufacture moulds up to 50 metres long.
